Grounding concept

Components
The SINUMERIK MC system consists of several individual components that have been
designed so that the system complies with the appropriate EMC and safety standards. The
individual system components are:
● Motion Control Unit MCU
● Machine Control Panel MCP
● Keyboard
● Operator panels
● S7-1500 I/O devices
Grounding measures
The individual modules are attached to a metal cabinet panel. Insulating paints on the mounting
points must be removed.
It is permissible to have a cluster of operator components for connection to the protective
conductor.
Example: Operator panel on the swivel arm.
In this case, it is sufficient to connect the protective conductor connectors of e.g. SINUMERIK
MCU and SIMATIC Panel for SINUMERIK to one another by a cable, and to lead a common
protective conductor to the central protective conductor connector in the control cabinet.

RI suppression measures

In addition to the protective grounding of system components, special precautions must be
taken to ensure safe, fault-free operation of the system. These measures include shielded
signal lines, special equipotential bonding connections, and isolation and shielding
measures.
