Foot brake adjustment

NM15N089
Prior to adjustment of the foot brake, the lever of the hand brake must be in the unbraked position. Check
and adjust the length of the pull rods (A = 614 mm) for the right and the left brake. The length of the pull rod
is measured from the centre of the pins according to the figure. Adjust the upper stop of the pedals with
adjusting screws (C) so that the treadles are in the horizontal position. Preadjust the fixed end of the
bowdens (B) of pedals so that the threaded area protrudes by 20 mm. After this basic adjustment, check
operation of the foot brakes and whether the braking effect of both wheels is the same. If this is not the case,
loosen the adjusting nut of the bowden (B) on the side with higher braking effect by the required value. When
the pedals of the foot brake are disconnected, there must be no contact of the pedal with the maximum force
of 500 N with the boss at the lower part of the bracket. In case that the threaded area of the bowden is not
sufficient for adjustment of brakes due to wear, replace the bowdens for new ones.
