M arking fo r c o o la n t level
Checking C oolant Level
The co o la n t level can be c h e c k e d v is ­
ually at the tra n s p a re n t c o o la n t re s e r­
voir.
To c h e c k th e c o o la n t level, th e veh icle
m ust be pa rked on level gro u n d .
The c o o la n t level m u s t reach:
The m arking (2, arro w ) on th e re se r-
v o ir'w h e n the en gine is cold.
A p p ro x . 1.5 cm (0.6 in) h ig h e r w hen
the engine is at o p e ra tin g te m p e ra ­
ture.
Adding C o o lant
If c o o la n t has to be added, a 50 /50
m ix tu re o f w a te r and M B a n tic o rro ­
s io n /a n tifre e z e s h o u ld be used.
W arning!
Use e x tre m e cautio n when
opening th e hood, if th ere are
any signs of ste am or co o lant
leaking from the cooling sys­
tem .
Do not rem ove pressure cap
on co o lan t reservoir if engine
te m p e ra tu re is above 90 °C
(194 °F ). A llow engine to cool
down b efo re rem oving cap.
The c o o la n t reservoir contains
hot w a te r/a n tic o rro s io n /a n ti­
fre eze m ixture and is under
pressure.
Using a rag, turn cap to first
notch to relieve excess p res­
sure. If opened im m ediately,
hot scalding fluid and steam
will be blown out under p res­
sure.
The drain p lu g s are lo c a te d on the
rig h t side o f th e e n gine and on the
ra d ia to r b o tto m .

m ent.

fo ld d o w n panel.
