Im p ortan t note:
The "S R S " is designed to reduce
the p o te n tial of injury in m ajor fron­
tal im pacts, however, no system
availab le to d a y can to tally elim inate
injuries and fatalities.
The activatio n of th e " SR S" te m p o r­
arily releases a sm all am ount of dust
from the airbag and the s e at b elt
em ergency tensioning retracto rs.
This dust, how ever, is n either inju­
rious to your health, nor does it indi­
c a te a fire in the vehicle.

• D am aged b elts or belts that
w ere highly stressed in an
a ccid en t m ust be replaced
and th eir anchoring points
m ust also be checked. Use
only belts installed or sup­
plied by an authorized
M ER C E D E S -B E N Z dealer.
• Do not pass belts over sharp
edges.
• Do not m ake any m odification
th a t could change th e effe c­
tiveness of th e belts.
• An airbag or em ergency te n ­
sioning re tra c to r (ETR) th at
w as activated m ust be
replaced.
• No m odifications of any kind
may be m ade to any co m p o ­
nents or w iring of th e " S R S " .
This includes th e installation
of ad d itio nal trim m aterial,
badges, etc. over th e steering
w heel hub or front passenger
airbag cover and installation
of ad d itio nal e le c tric a l/e le c ­
tronic eq u ip m en t on or near
"S R S " co m p o nents and w ir­
ing.
