BT Generator AC Voltage Connections
NOTE : The frame ground wire must be moved when changing output
vottage or frequency. For making connections to the AC terminal block,
use 1/4 inch studs that will accept mutti-strand copper wire sized for
the amperage rating from the hot lead connection for terminal ends.
The frame ground wire is white or white with a green strip. It connects
between the neutral stud and the generator frame.
4. Frequency is a direct resutt of engine/generator speed: 1 BOO rpm
=
60 hertz; 1500 rpm
=
50 hertz.
5. To change generator frequency:
A. Connect the AC output leads to the AC terminal block (figure 5.30.2). Select the correct
ground stud.
B.
Reposition the wire on the vottage/hertz connection bar to correspond to the hertz selected.
(figure 5.30 A or 5.30 B)
C. Start the engine, monitor vottage and adjust engine no-load speed. Adjust the throttle
arm or the throttle stop screw to produce engine speed desired. (figure 5.36.1

In most cases,
if
the generator was producing the correct no-ioad vottage at the previous
hertz setting, it would be correct at the changed hertz setting.
In the event it needs adjustment, adjust the shim thickness under the laminated steel
bar of the transformer. (figure 5.29)
