2.
While still depressing the PREHEAT
sw~ch,
depress the START switch. As soon as the
engine runs, release the START switch but continue to hold the PREHEAT
sw~ch
depressed
for an additional 2 - 3 seconds. This allows the engine to build up enough oil pressure
to close the oil pressure shutdown
sw~ch
and allow the engine to continue to run.
NOTE: Should the engine not start when the START
sw~ch
is depressed
for
10 - 12
seconds, release both
sw~ches
and wait
30
seconds; repeat
the previous procedure. Never run the starter motor for more than
30
seconds at a time.
3. Check all the instruments on the panel for proper operation and make sure raw water
discharges with the exhaust discharge once the engine starts.
Once the engine starts, allow
~
to run for a few minutes to warm up and stabilize while the
engine's instruments are checked for proper oil pressure and battery charging voltage. Never
attempt to engage the starter while the engine is running.

NOTE: Some unstable running may occur in a cold engine, but this
condition should smooth out as the operating temperature moves into
the
130 - 150° F (55 - 56°
C) range.
