Configuring the device IP address

You can configure this device with a static IP address, or you can use a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to set the
device IP address. DHCP is enabled by default. Devices support both IPv4 and IPv6 format addresses.

Using DHCP to set the IP address

When using DHCP, the Extreme Networks devices obtain the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway address from the DHCP
server. The DHCP client can only connect to a DHCP server that is on the same subnet as the device. If your DHCP server is not on the
same subnet as the Extreme Networks device, use a static IP address.
To set an IPv4 IP address using DHCP, complete the following steps.
1.
Log in to the device using the admin account.
2.
Configure the management interface with the following command:
device(config)# interface Management 1/0
3.
Configure the IP address using the following command:
device(config-Management-1/0)# ip address dhcp

Setting a static IP address

Complete the following steps to set a static IP address.
1.
Log in to the device using the default password (the default password is password).
