FRU replacement in the VDX 6740T
2. Ensure that the replacement power supply has the same part number and airflow label as the power supply being replaced.
3. Unplug the power cord from the power supply that is being replaced.
4. Using the Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two captive screws on the power supply.
5. Remove the power supply from the chassis by grasping the edges of the power supply and pulling it out from the chassis.

6. Place the power supply in an anti-static bag for storage.
7. If the empty power supply bay where you are installing the replacement power supply has a cover plate, remove the two screws
near the edges of the cover plate to unlock the plate, and then remove the plate.
8. Remove the replacement power supply from its packaging.
9. To install the power supply into the chassis, orient the power supply with the power plug receptacle on the right, as shown in the
previous illustration.
10. With one hand, hold the bar on the front panel of the power supply. With the other hand, support the underside of the power
supply, and insert the power supply into the empty power supply slot. Gently push the power supply into the chassis until it is
firmly seated.
CAUTION
Carefully follow the mechanical guides on each side of the power supply slot and make sure the power supply is
properly inserted in the guides. Never insert the power supply upside down.
NOTE
Do not force the installation. If the power supply does not slide in easily, ensure that the power supply is correctly
oriented before continuing.
11. Secure the power supply to the chassis by tightening the two captive screws using the Phillips screwdriver.
