The output voltage of front HO2S is changed continuously accroding to air/fuel ratio, ECM controls fuel amount based
on this value. Preheating is necessary for HO2S normal operation. Therefore heater unit is installed in HO2S, ECM can
control air/fuel ratio with the output signal of HO2S simultaneous with engine run by reducing preheating time. ECM
controls heater with duty cycle. HO2S' power source is main relay and ECM operates heater by ground control.
Monitor GDS Data
1. Connect GDS to Data Link Connector(DLC).
2. IG "ON".
3. Select "DTC" button, and then Press "DTC Status" to check DTC's information from the DTCs menu.
4. Read "DTC Status" parameter.
5. Is parameter displayed "Present fault"?
▶ Go to "Terminal and Connector inspection" procedure.
▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was
repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor
connection, ending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as
necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
