Field Bytes Description
Page 0 Identifies the type of diagnostic page being returned.
Code
Reserved 1 All reserved bits must be 0.
Page 2-3 Indicates the number of bytes of data to be returned after this block.
Length
Diagnostic 4-7 The results of the Send Diagnostics command test. A code of zero indicates
Parameter that the drive passed the test. A non zero code indicates that the drive has
failed the test. The value returned corresponds to the Message Code de-
scribed in Appendix A.
Status Message Description
♦ The drive is ready to perform any appropriate command.
00h Good
Status ♦ The drive remains in any previously set mode.
♦ The tape position is not changed.
02h Check Use the Request Sense command to retrieve status information. Possible
Condition Sense Keys are:

Message Description
Hardware Error Drive hardware failure detected.
Illegal Request The CDB contains an invalid bit.
Unit Attention The cartridge was changed, or the drive was re-
set prior to this command.
