6. GATE DRIVER CARD A001

Gate driver card A001 creates control signals to main circuit card Z001 and acts as a connection interface for different
power source components and functions controlled by processor card A002

6.1. Auxiliary power supply

The auxiliary voltages are created from the 20V secondary of the auxiliary transformer. 20V secondary voltage (ac) is
rectified to 24V dc voltage (unregulated)
Two step-down regulators (N1 and N2) regulate 15V and 5V voltages from the 24V dc voltage
LEDs H2 (5V) and H3 (15V) indicate that auxiliary voltages exist
Transformer is protected against short circuit on the control card by two fuses F1 and F2 (3.15A).
6.2. IGBT driver
Gate drive circuit consists of drive transformers (T1 and T2), which provide insulation between secondary and prima-
ry, full bridge driving stage and latch circuit for negative gate voltage.

6.3. Auxiliary device connection

Data communication in the system takes place through serial bus with voltage of 24V. 24V voltage is created from
50V. Communication protocol is CAN (Control Area Network). Communication bus is galvanically isolated from power
source
LED H8 indicates that there is data communication taking place through the system bus when it is lit
Linear regulator (N4) creates 5V remote control voltage from 24V. Operational amplifier (N7) feed's 5V to the remote
control device. Remote control device is isolated from the power source
LED H7 indicates that remote control unit is connected when it is lit

6.4. Voltage monitoring

Comparator N6 monitors 15V supply voltage and DC-link overvoltage and shuts down the power stage if necessary
