Prompt
Reported
In one of the SRUs of the SHDSL span, a LOSW condition has been detected.
As a consequent action, the "segd" overhead bit has been set as an indication
that the SHDSL segment in the downstream direction of the SRU has failed.
Locate the SRU where the LOSW condition is detected at the customer-side
SHDSL port. The SHDSL segment "behind" that SRU has failed (see the
example subsequent to this table).
For the failed SHDSL segment:
Verify the correct routing of interconnecting cables.
Verify that the connectors are properly connected at the local and remote
end of the SHDSL segment.
Verify that the receiver at the local end of the SHDSL segment (i.e. at the
SRU where the LOSW condition has been detected) functions properly.
Verify that the transmitter at the remote end of the SHDSL segment (i.e. at
the next attached SHDSL device in the downstream direction) functions
properly.
The SHDSL segment between the SRU with the highest address that still
responds to alarm polling (and reports a LOSW alarm on its customer-side
SHDSL port) and the next SHDSL device is failed. All management
connectivity to the SHDSL device downstream from the failed segment and
other SHDSL devices behind it, is lost. This means that transmission (and
hence management communication) is no longer possible with the NTU and
possibly with an SRU.
