5.5 Bluetooth Connection

There are many peripherals such as USB dongles and PC Cards on the market that will allow you
to add a Bluetooth serial port to a PC. This manual only covers the IT-600 side of the connection
and assumes that you have a suitably configured Bluetooth COM port available on the PC. Your
PC may require a Passkey during connection; if so, you will be prompted on the IT-600 at some
point to enter the Passkey before the connection can be completed.
1. Establish connection with the PC using the cradle as described earlier in this manual.
2. On IT-600, navigate to Start → Settings → Control Panel → Bluetooth Connection.
3. After a few seconds, a list of detected Bluetooth devices should appear. Identify the PC amongst
these and double click its entry in the list.
4. A list of available services for the PC will appear. Bluetooth Serial Port should be among
them (the exact name may vary depending on the Bluetooth hardware you are using on the PC).
Click and hold on the serial port entry and a pop-up menu should appear with an entry called Use
to connect for ActiveSync. Click this. The icon should change to ActiveSync icon.
5. Click Bluetooth Serial Port (or whatever the specific item is on your PC) and the ActiveSync
connection to the PC should be established.
6. If you click and hold on the serial port icon in the window that displays the PC side services, you
can choose the Add Shortcut item to create a shortcut to this connection.
7. Click the radio icon (the blue circle) and choose Shortcut. Click and hold the shortcut you
created in step 6 and click Auto Connection in the pop-up menu in Figure 5.27. The
ActiveSync connection will then be launched as soon as you start the Bluetooth Connection
utility in an access later.
8. To disconnect the ActiveSync session it is best to double-click the connection icon in the Taskbar
and click Disconnect.
