C l e a r i n g a n E r r o r
To clear an error:
♦
Correc t the problem (load s upply, etc.), then press ENT ER to reprint/continue.
♦
Press ESCAPE. Us e the printer's menu to correct the problem (when poss ible). For exam ple,
change the printer's supply type, etc., then pres s SELECT to reprint/continue.
W hen receiving a m es sage that is not des c ribed in this manual or the recommended ac tion does
not solve the problem , call Tec hnical Support. Some errors are the result of com munication
problems. In this c as e, verify network s ettings or reset the printer and reboot the computer. If
any online configuration packets changed, res end the format packet to the printer, so the
configuration changes take effect.

If the PC is not com m unicating with the printer, follow thes e steps:

Check any mess ages that oc cur at the printer and at the com puter. See the following error
m essage listing in this chapter for more information.

Use the correct printer c able.
♦
Make sure the cable is plugged into the c orrect port on the computer.
♦
Compare the printer's c om munications settings (especially flow control) with the settings on
the PC. They m us t match. Print a tes t label to identify the printer's c ommunication settings .
♦
Make sure the printer is online (ready to receive data).
If all of the above are c orrec t, reset the printer. Try the function again. Call Tec hnical Support if
the printer does not es tablish comm unications.
R e s e t t i n g t h e P r i n t e r
Som etimes, the printer receives mixed signals and los es its ability to communicate. If this
happens, res et the printer and attempt communic ation again. To res et the printer, turn off the
printer, wait 15 seconds , and turn it back on.
W henever the printer is turned off, all the information set through the online configuration packets
(A-Y) is saved. See the s ec tions in Chapter 2,
about each packet.
