Before designing a form at, ans wer thes e ques tions. How large is the supply, which fonts s hould
be used, should a bar c ode be included, what about a graphic ? There are s everal steps to
designing a custom format:
Determine the label siz e. Labels are available from Avery Dennison in a wide variety of sizes.
The application and the am ount of printed data determine the supply size. Contact your Account
Manager or Technical Support for m ore information.
1. Draw a rough sketc h of the label. Note any areas that are preprinted on the label, suc h as a
logo.
2. Identify the field types that appear on the label. See
information.
3. Dec ide which fonts to us e. W hen working with fonts, there are three considerations: font
appearance, font s ize (sc alable or bitmapped), and font s pacing (monospaced or
proportional). The TrueType® sc alable font, EFF Swiss Bold™ (font 50) is standard on the
printers. See Appendix B, "Fonts," for samples of each font.
At this point, send the des ign to the printer. To do this:

Keep backup copies of the form at, batc h data, c heck digit, and graphic packets.
