Replacing Damaged Hard Drives
I f you are using RAI D 1, RAI D 5, RAI D 6, RAI D 50 or RAI D 60 you can easily replace
a dam aged hard drive in t he Thecus I P st orage w hile keeping your dat a secur e wit h
t he sy st em 's aut om at ic dat a recovery .

Hard Drive Damage

When a hard drive is dam aged and dat a in t he RAI D volum e is cor rupt ed, t he
syst em OLED will display a warning m essage and t he sy st em will beep.

Replacing a Hard Drive

To replace a hard disk drive in t he Thecus I P st orage:
1. Rem ove t he t ray wit h t he dam aged hard disk.
2. Unscr ew t he dam aged hard disk and r em ov e it from t he t ray.
3. Slide a new hard disk int o t he t ray and fast en t he scr ews.
4. I nsert t he hard disk t ray back int o t he Thecus I P st orage unt il it snaps int o
place. You can also lock it wit h a key if desired.
5. The LED will blink green when t he HDD is accessed.

RAID Auto-Rebuild

When using RAI D 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 or 60 on t he Thecus I P st orage, you can use t he
aut o- rebuild funct ion when an err or is det ect ed.
1. When a hard disk fails t he syst em beeps and/ or an em ail not ificat ion is sent
t o t he specified receiver s.
2. Check t he OLED t o see which disk has failed.
3. Follow t he st eps m ent ioned abov e t o replace t he failed hard disk.
4. The syst em aut om at ically recognizes t he new hard disk and st art s t he
aut o- rebuild sequence t o r esum e it s st at us before t he hard disk crash.
