NOTE: The prioritization of alerts is dependant on configuration, and can differ
between system setups.
The table below shows an example of how alerts from patient monitoring systems are
prioritized:
High
Medium
Low
7.3.1

Crisis Alerts

Crisis alerts have the highest priority (1) and signal immediate danger or emergency. These
alerts prompt the user to take immediate action. An example of a crisis alert is a "Code Blue"
alert, often used to indicate a cardiac arrest. Crisis alerts can also be used to signal fire.

Crisis alerts always override any system warning, or phone call and are indicated by:
Red frame around the alert
LED beacon flashing in the color of the alert
Icon
Siren
Vibration
NOTE: The siren indicating priority 1 alerts will break-through vibrator only, and
silent mode.
NOTE: Indications of pending (not yet handled) priority 1 alerts are repeated every
tenth second for five minutes.

7.4 Alert Classification

The following can be used to classify alerts:
7.4.1 Colors
-Used to show category, or priority of an alert.
7.4.2 Icons
-Used to give an indication of the alert category, for example a nurse call, or a lab result.
