Configuration procedure
To enable IGMP proxying:
Step

and enter MRIB view.

Return to system view.
4.
Enter interface view.
5.
Enable the IGMP proxying
feature.

Configuring multicast forwarding on a downstream interface

Typically, only IGMP queriers can forward multicast traffic and non-queriers cannot. This prevents
multicast data from being repeatedly forwarded. If a downstream interface on the IGMP proxy device
has failed in the querier election, you must enable multicast forwarding capability on this interface.
Otherwise, downstream hosts cannot receive multicast data.
On a shared-media network, there might exist more than one IGMP proxy device. If the downstream
interface of one IGMP proxy device has been elected as the querier, you cannot enable multicast
forwarding on any other non-querier downstream interface of the other proxy devices. Otherwise,
duplicate multicast traffic might be received on the shared-media network.
To enable multicast forwarding on a downstream interface:
Step
1.
Enter system view.
2.
Enter interface view.
3.
Enable multicast forwarding on a
non-querier downstream
interface.

Configuring multicast load splitting on the IGMP proxy

If IGMP proxying is enabled on multiple interfaces of the IGMP proxy device, one of the following occurs:
If you disable the load splitting function, only the interface with the highest IP address forwards the
multicast traffic.
If you enable the load splitting function, the IGMP proxying-enabled interfaces share the multicast
traffic on a per-group basis.
To enable the load splitting function on the IGMP proxy:

Enter system view.
