Switching on for the first time

Set the monitor's brightness control to bright and switch on the monitor (see
Ê
monitor operating instructions).
Open the door of the server.

Ê Switch the server on with the main switch at the rear of the server.
Press the ON/OFF switch at the front of the server.
Ê
The Power ON indicator lights green.
When you switch on the server, it carries out a self-test.
If after switching on the server there is nothing but flickering stripes on the

screen, switch the server off immediately (see

ServerStart

If you received the ServerStart CD for your server, you can use it to configure the
server and install the operating system. Server configuration consists of EISA
configuration using ECU, ISA configuration using ICU and disk array controller
configuration using DACCF. You will find information on operating ServerStart and
other details in the relevant description (booklet).
You can ignore the following description of server configuration and operating
system installation if you use ServerStart.
You need a CD-ROM drive for ServerStart.
