This appliance has been approved by HETAS Ltd as an intermittent operating appliance for burning wood logs and approved smokeless
fuels only.
Under the recommended fuels heading:

"The Clean Air Act 1993 and Smoke Control Areas"
Under the Clean Air Act local authorities may declare the whole or part of the district of the authority to be a smoke control area. It is an
offence to emit smoke from a chimney of a building, from a furnace or from any fixed boiler if located in a designated smoke control area. It is
also an offence to acquire an "unauthorised fuel" for use within a smoke control areaunless it is used in an "exempt" appliance ("exempted"
from the controls which generally apply in the smoke control area).
The Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has powers under the Act to authorise smokeless fuels or exempt appliances
for use in smoke control areas in England. In Scotland and Wales this power rests with Ministers in the devolved administrations for those
countries. Separate legislation, the Clean Air (Northern Ireland) Order 1981, applies in Northern Ireland. Therefore it is a requirement that fuels
burnt or obtained for use in smoke control areas have been "authorised" in Regulations and that appliances used to burn solid fuel in those
areas (other than "authorised" fuels) have been exempted by an Order made and signed by the Secretary of State or Minister in the devolved
administrations.
Further information on the requirements of the Clean Air Act can be found here : http://www.gov.uk/smoke-control-area-rules.
Your local authority is responsible for implementing the Clean Air Act 1993 including designation and supervision of smoke control areas and
you can contact them for details of Clean Air Act requirements"
The appliance has been recommended as suitable for use in smoke control areas when burning wood logs. Solid fuels Authorised under the
Clean Air Act 1993 may also be used.

Approved Document J of the building regulations gives more detailed information.
The installation requires a permanent ventilator to be fitted. Approved Document J of the building regulations gives more detailed
information on sizing and positioning requirements
If the insert is fitted in place of an open fire then the chimney should be swept one month after the installation to clear any soot falls
which may have occurred due to the difference in combustion between the insert and the open fire.
Ensure all parts are fitted in accordance with the instructions.
On completion of the installation allow a suitable period of time for any fire cement and mortar to dry out, before lighting the insert.
Once the insert is under fire check all seals for soundness and check that the flue is functioning correctly and that all products of
combustion are vented safely to atmosphere via the chimney terminal.
On completion of the installation and commissioning ensure that the operating instructions for the insert are left with the customer.
Ensure to advise the customer on the correct use of the appliance and warn them to use only the recommended fuel for the insert.
Advise the user what to do should smoke or fumes be emitted from the insert. The customer should be warned to use a fireguard to BS
8423:2002 (Replaces BS 6539) in the presence of children, aged and/or infirm persons.
Refer the installer to the current issue of British Standard BS EN 15287-1:2007 design, installation and commissioning of chimneys.
Please fit a CO alarm in accordance with the guidelines given in Approved Document J of The Building Regulations.
CO Alarms:
Building regulations require that whenever a new or replacement fixed solid fuel or wood/biomass appliance is installed in a dwelling
a carbon monoxide alarm must be fitted in the same room as the appliance. Further guidance on the installation of the carbon
monoxide alarm is available in BS EN 50292:2002 and from the alarm manufacturer's instructions. Provision of an alarm must not be

and chimney system.
In order to fix the apliance to the hearth we use a fixing bracket (they are not supplied). For this operation first we must take out the
frame (see pag 16) and, after this, we will fix the brackets.
