Electrical Problems

Potential problems that can be experienced with the display, pushbuttons, or data
printouts.
PROBLEM
No indication on the display panel when
power is turned on.
Some pushbuttons are inoperative.
Printer does not respond correctly to
pushbutton commands.
Incorrect or no printout.
5000 Series Quick Reference Guide
POSSIBLE CAUSE/CURE
Make sure that the power cord is securely
plugged into the printer and wall outlet.
Check for power at the wall outlet using a
known working appliance.
Check the thumbscrews on the ribbon deck.
Check the printer for a blown fuse.
Normal if printer is online. (Pushbutton
press causes a beep).
Offline: Printer may be locked up. Turn
power off for 15 seconds and then back on.
Invalid configuration may be causing
printer to lock up.
Turn power off for 15 seconds, and then
back on.
If problem persists, contact your service
provider.
Check interface cable connections.
Selected speed (baud rate) may not be
compatible with host. Reset serial interface
data rate.
Parity selected may not be compatible with
host. Reset serial interface parity type.
Interface settings may not be compatible
with host. Recheck settings and compare to
host protocol settings.
