Implementing Layer-3 Multicast Routing on Cisco IOS XR Software
Prerequisites for Implementing Multicast Routing
• You must install and activate the multicast pie.
• For detailed information about optional PIE installation, see Cisco ASR 9000 Series Aggregation Services
• For MLDP, an MPLS PIE has to be installed.
• You must be in a user group associated with a task group that includes the proper task IDs. The command
• You must be familiar with IPv4 and IPv6 multicast routing configuration tasks and concepts.
• Unicast routing must be operational.
• To enable multicast VPN, you must configure a VPN routing and forwarding (VRF) instance.
