4.12.1 Mix dye standards

To evaluate the operation of the system, run tests with the Universal Dye instead of
reagents. This technique is helpful in troubleshooting problems that are not related to
the reagents.
All of the reagent lines can be put in deionized water. The standards will be solutions of
dye at different concentrations.
Make sure that the Universal Dye that comes with the system has been diluted according
to the directions on the label.
Note: The dye will not be detected with the 880 nm filter.
Table 9
shows the quantity of Universal Dye solution and deionized water for
four standards.

To mix the dye standards:
1. Locate the sampler cups for the standards.
2. Pour the standard solutions into the vials. The Dye test requires four standard vials.
3. Position the vials on the standards rack. Make sure the high standard is in the
first position.
Note: The position of the standards can be any standards rack position, as long as the location
is specified in the software.
