The ActionLaser 1600 uses BiRITech (Bi Resolution Improvement Technology),
which is designed to improve print quality at 600 DPI and 300 DPI. This method
extracts dot map data from the image data and reassembles it to improve print
data.
The main improvement in this technique is eliminating "jaggies" in diagonal lines.
It is most effective when the dot map data fits the development characteristics of
the printer mechanism well. It is therefore necessary to set appropriate values in
SelecType mode.
N o t e :
BiRITech is not as effective for printing a mesh pattern or gray scale. In
such cases, set BiRITech to OFF. (The default setting is MEDIUM.)
Since the BiRITech effect depends on the toner condition, adjust it when
the imaging cartridge is replaced or after the imaging cartridge is used
for a long time.
The following settings are available in SelecType for RITech: DARK, MEDIUM,
LIGHT, OFF. When the toner density of area A is almost the same as that of area
B (as shown in the figure below), it is the optimum setting. In other words, the
optimum setting is achieved when it is difficult to distinguish the shape of area A
from that of B.
