the

ma nufacturer's
speci

cations.
Hook up trai
ler
to
hitch and adj ust
t
he te nsio
n
on
the
equalizing bars
per the hitch
manufact
urers
specifications. Record
this adjustment.
On a
ll
subsequent hook-ups
,
it
is not
necessary to go through
the
procedu re. Simply
hook up the
tnliler
with
equal
izing bars
set
to
th
e
adjustment previo usly
determined.

r Towing
Notes
Your
car is
equipped
with energy
absorbing bumpers.
This system
allows the bumpers
to move toward the
car at
a controlled rate when
a
linear
force is applied. If
a
bumper mounted
trailer
hitch is
emp-
loyed,
bumper rum:cmcot
rna,
} ,
occur during
braking
with a trailer
attached
.
Repeated stroking of the bumper under
these
conditions
may produce abrasion of the flex ible panel
between
the bumper and
car body.
The bumper mounted hitch
available
from Chrysler
Corporation
incorporates
a
device
to
limit bumper travel when
installed.
If
other
hitches arc used, some
form
of
restricting de\-'ice should
be adapted
in
order to a\-'oid the condit ion described above.

The
di
rect connection of
hydra
ulic
brake
lines
from the trailer to
the
tow
ca
r
is
not
acce
ptab
le.
If
a hydraulic actuated
e
lectric
trailer
brake co ntro ller
is
installed
,
it
is
mandato
ry to
take the hydrau
lic
pressure
for
controll
er actuat ion
from th
e
line which
cont ro
ls
the
car's
rear wheel
brakes.
The
con
nection
shou ld
be
at the
maste
r
cy
linder
or at
the brake
sys
tem warning ligh
t
sw
itch.
Ove
rh eat ing
In
any of
the

owing situations
you
can reduce
the
cause of
overheating.
On
thc highways -

gear.

traffic -

at higher speed.
Air
conditioning on
-
Temporarily turn
off the
sys
tem.
\Vhenevcr you
pull a trailer,
regardlcss
of the
trailer size,
stop and
turn
signals
on
the
trailer are recommended
for motoring
safety.
To
handle
the
addit
ional electrical
load of the
trailer
lights
and
assure
their proper functioning, a heavy duty flasher
,
normally included
in
the Trailer
Towing Package, can
be
installed by
your
dealer.
A
heavy
duty flasher. un like the
standa
rd flasher.
does
not provide
an
indication
of outs
ide lamp bu
lb
fa ilure.
Therefore,
an occasional
visual c heck
around the
car
is recommended.
Assist Starting Procedures
If Battery Is Low
Auto matic
Transmission
Start ing
can not be accomp lished by
pus
hing
or
towing.
Use a
booster battery or
jumper cable
s
from
the battery
in
another car.
Do not
use a booster battery, or any other source, with an output that
exceeds
12 volts.
