When additiona l coolant is needed
to
maint a in the proper leve l. a
mi nimum of 50% co nce ntratio n of e th ylene glyco l anti-freeze in
water ( - 34

F. freeze point) should be added to the overfl ow bottle.
Do not ove rfill . A higher concentration (nol to exceed 70%) should
be lIsed if a lowe r freeze point is requi red. Do not use addi tiona l
inhibitors or anti-ru st prod ucts as they may not be compatible wi th
the radiator coolan t.

Valve Cover Gaskets
Ins pect the area around t he perimeter of the va lve cover w he re it
contacts the e ngine head fo r ev ide nce of oil seepage. If oil seepage
is appare nt. the valve cover gasket sho uld be replaced using the
procedu re desclibed in the Se rvice Manual.
Power Steering Fluid Level
The power stee ring pump re servo ir sho uld be chec ked at every
e ngine oil change. The pump reservoi r is equ ipped with a dipstick
to indicate Il uid leve l.

O nl y petroleum fluids specially formulated for minimum effec t on
rubbe r hose s shou ld be used. Power Steering Flu id (Pa rt No.

Exhaust System

whe n ex hau st fum es ca n be detected ins ide the ve hicle, or when the
und erside o r rear of the veh icle is damaged. have a compete nt
mechanic ins pect the complete ex hau st system a nd adjace nt body
areas for broken. dame:)ged. deteriorated , or mi spo sitioned part s.
Open seams or loose co nn ect io ns cou ld permit exhaust fum es to
seep into the trunk o r passe nger co mpartm ent. In addition . ins pect
the ex haust sys tem eac h time the vehic le is ra ised for lubrication or
oil c hange. Replace as requ ired.
Rubber Isolator a nd Loop-Type Hanger - I nspec t surfaces for rub-
bcr to metal sepa rati on o r deep crac ks. Slight c racking due to
weat he ring and ozone docs not adversely affect performance. If.
however. excessively deep. local ized c racks arc present. or a ny
part
of the exhaust syste m contacts the underbod y o r unde rbody
hard ware. the isolator and/or ha nge r shou ld be rep laced. 55
