I. Position the car on as level and firm a surface as possible. Shut
off engine, set parking brake and place the transmi ss ion s hi ft le ver
in "Park",
2. If
you are o n
the side of a road activate hazard warning fla sher.
3. Remove the spare whee l, jack, base and wrench . Block wheel
diagonally opposite the one to be removed. (A w heel choc k or brick
can be ca rried in the trunk for thi s purpose).
4. As se mble jack a nd basco position the hook in bumper slot as
s hown o n the label. Base mus t si t flat, wi th top of j ac k column
angled away from car

shown. The co lumn will straighten when
car is lifted.
S. Inse rt wrench injack hand le, set tingercon lro l to "Up" position
and "pump" untiljack is seated firm ly in place. Do not raise tire off
road surface.
6. Pry off whee l cove r by inserting fla t end of wrenc h opposite
va lve stem and twi sting wrench. Loose n the whee l nut s by turning
counterclockwisc . but do no t rcmove.
7. Operate jack and raise so tire just dea rs s urface. (Minim um tire
lift provides maximum ca r stability). Use a slow smoo th pumping
moti on and a firm grip on wheel wrench when operat ing jack.
8. Remove whee l nut s. pull wheel off hub , instal l s pa re and lightly
tighten nuts. Set finger co ntrol for " Down" position and "pump"
to lower to ground. Do not roll ca r olT jack.
9. F INISH T IGHTEN IN G NUTS. ALTERNATING EVERY
OTHER NUT UNTIL EVERY NUT HAS BEEN TIGHT-
ENED TWI CE.
10. Put wheel cover in place and hit s harply with a rub ber mallet or
the heel of you r hand in area op posite valve s tem. Remove block
from wheel.
I J. Faste n the replaced tire . jack and wrench securel y in the trunk
using the jack base a nd tic-down nut. A loose tire o r jack in the
trunk if thrown forwa rd in
a collis io n cou ld e nd anger the passe n-
ge rs.
Volare models - The chrome plate d mag-t ype style wheel can be
temporalily stowed in the whee l well by removing the hold down
bolt.
Repa irs o n the tire wi th th e c hrome style wheel s hould be made as
soon as poss ible a nd the pa inted wheel replaced , and sec ured with
the hold down bolt.
12. Adju st inflation press ure as soo n as poss ible.
Tire Rotation
All tire s s hould
be rotated a
t least every 10,000 mi les and s hould be
in correct ba lan ce to obtain the most uniform trea d wear. Tire
inspection at every oi l change is re co mmended. If irregu la r tread
wear has deve loped. rotat io n is suggested. Cons ult your dea ler to
determine the cause of in'egular
