It is essential when replacing the cables on the battery that the
positive cable is attached to the posilive post and the negative cable is
attached to the negative post. Battery posts arc marked I)()siliv(' ( +)
and negative ( - ) and identified on the battery casco
Also.
if
a " fast charger" is used while battery is in ca r. disconnect
both ca r battery cables before co nn ect in g the charger
to
battery.
Do not use a "fast c harger" to prov ide s tarting voltage .
Body Mechanisms
The following body mechanism s hould be inspected and. ifneces-
sa ry. all pivot and slid ing contact areas of these compone nt s sho uld
be relubricated with the lubricant spec ified below.
Engine Oil- door hinges, hood hinges, doorgate hinges and liftgate
hinges.
Multipurpose Lubricant, NLGI Grade 2 - ven t wing pivots. license
plat mounting bracket hinge s, fuel tank access door hinges, head -
lam p door (actua ting shaft) and doorgate torsion bar a nd anti-slam
mecha ni s m.
Smooth "Vhite Body

Lubricant (such as Mopar Lubrip-
late, Part No. 2744859) - hood hinge cam and slide, deck lid tors ion
bar and s lide , lock cy linders and pa rking brake mech a ni s ms.
Windshield Wipe r Blades
Use a nd ex pos ure 10 s un and Ihe elements deteriorates the rubber
portion of the wiper blade. When wiper blades streak and smear.
the rubber refill shou ld be replaced.
Note : Do not operate wipers for long periods on dr}' glass; this
accelerates deterioration of the rubber clement.
Windshield Washers
The fluid reservoir in the engine compartment s ho uld be checked
for fluid leve l at regulnr interva ls. When freez ing weather is antici-
pated flu sh out the water in th e rese r vo ir by operating the pump.
Fill the reservoir with windshie ld washer a nti-fre eze. (not radiator
anti-freeze) , and ope rate the sys tem for a few seco nd s to flush out
the res idu al water.
During co ld weather operate the defroste r fo r a few minutes to
reduce the poss ibility of smea ring or freez ing the fluid on th e co ld
w.indshie ld. Mopa r All Weather Wind shie ld Washer Solution lIsed
with water as directed on the conla in er. aids cleaning acti o n. re-
duces freez ing point to avo id line clogging and is not harmfu l to
paint or trim.
Coola nt level
The coolant reservc system provides a quick visua l method for
determining that the coolant level is adequate . With the e ngine
idl ing. and w<:lrrTIcd to the normal operating tcmpcrmure. th e level
of the coolant in th e overflow bottle (plastic bottle with gree n cap)
