IMPORTANT:
To ensure good ventilation of the switch, install a filler panel to the slot not in use.
The switch comes with the slot with the smallest number for each type of card empty and other slots a
filler panel.
The cards of the switch have protection boxes when shipped. Before installing a card, remove the
protection box.
Before installing a card to the chassis, make sure the connectors on the card are not broken or blocked
to avoid damaging the backplane.

Installing an MPU/LPU

Each HP FlexFabric 12900 switch supports two MPUs for redundancy. If only one MPU is installed, install
it in either empty MPU slot. For an LPU, install it in any empty LPU slot.
The pink edged MPU slots of a 12910 AC switch are located at the rear panel. The MPUs are horizontally
oriented. When installing an MPU, make sure its PCB faces up.
The purple edged LPU slots of a 12910 AC switch are located at the front panel. They are vertically
oriented. When installing an LPU, make sure its PCB faces left.
The installation procedures for MPUs and LPUs are the same.
This section takes installing an LPU as example.
