Replacing an MPU or LPU

The replacement procedures of an MPU are the same as those of an LPU. The following illustrates the
replacement of an LPU.
To replace an LPU:
1. Prepare an antistatic mat to place the removed LPU.
2. Wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is well
grounded. For more information, see
3. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the captive screw on the LPU, as shown in callout 1 on
40.
4. Move the ejector levers outward to separate the LPU from the backplane, as shown in callout 2
on Figure 40.
