Replacing a transceiver module
Make sure the optical transceiver modules at the two ends of an optical fiber are the same model.
WARNING!
When replacing a transceiver module while the switch is running, be aware of electrical safety hazards.
•
Do not stare at the fibers to avoid hurting your eyes.
•
•
Do not touch the golden fingers on the module.
Replacing an SFP+/SFP/QSFP+ module
1.
Wear an ESD-preventive wrist strap and make sure it makes good skin contact and is well
grounded.
For more information, see
2.
Remove the optical fibers on the module.
3.
Pivot the clasp outward.
For a QSFP+ module that uses a plastic pull latch, skip this step. QSFP+ modules use either a metal
or plastic pull latch.
4.
Grasp the clasp on the module and carefully pull the module out of the slot.
5.
Put the dust plug on the removed module, and put the remove module into its original shipping
materials.
6.
Install a new module.
If no new module is to be installed, install the dust cover provided with the LPU to the
SFP+/SFP/QSFP+ port. For information about the installation procedures, see
