4.3 Router Discovery Protocol Commands

This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the Router Discovery commands. The commands are
divided by functionality into the following different groups:
Show commands are used to display switch settings, statistics and other information.
Configuration Commands are used to configure features and options of the switch. For every con-
figuration command there is a show command that will display the configuration setting.
Copy commands are used to transfer configuration and informational files to and from the switch.
4.3.1 ip irdp
This command enables Router Discovery on an interface.

4.3.1.1 no ip irdp
This command disables Router Discovery on an interface.

4.3.2 ip irdp address
This command configures the address to be used to advertise the router for the interface. The valid
values for ipaddr are 224.0.0.1 and 255.255.255.255.

This command configures the default address to be used to advertise the router for the interface.

4.3.3 ip irdp holdtime
This command configures the value, in seconds, of the holdtime field of the router advertisement sent
from this interface. The range is the maxadvertinterval to 9000 seconds.
