Troubleshooting for the IC Card Reader
This section describes how to troubleshoot problems related to the IC card reader.
Unable to log in using the IC card.
Another card, such as one that is in the same
carrying case, may be interfering with the IC
card that you are trying to use.
If the cards interfere with one another, you may not be
able to log in using the IC card.
You may not be holding the IC card to the reader
properly.
If the IC card is too far from the IC card reader, the IC
card is not recognized, resulting in authentication
failure.
The USB cable of the IC card reader may not be
properly connected.
If it is not properly connected, you may not be able to
log in using the IC card.
The information on the IC card may not have
been registered on the machine.
• The IC card must be registered by the administrator
in advance. Make sure that the administrator has
registered your IC card.
• The attribute of the external server which is used for
IC card authentication is not set correctly. For more
information on what action to take, contact your
administrator.

A registered IC card is lost or
missing.
Contact your administrator immediately.
The IC card allows the user to log in to the machine
and print documents. If your IC card is used by an
unauthorized third party, the activities will be recorded
under your name. If you notice that your card is
missing, contact your administrator immediately.
