4. Intake Manifold
D The intake manifold is made of plastic to reduce the weight and the amount of heat transferred from the
cylinder head. As a result, it has become possible to reduce the intake air temperature and improve the
intake volumetric efficiency.
D A resonator is installed inside the air intake chamber which makes use of the intake pulse to improve torque
in the mid-speed range.
D The intake manifold cover is used on the intake manifold to reduce intake air noise.

5. Exhaust Manifold
A compact exhaust manifold with a double-wall construction is used. This manifold has been shaped to
prevent the temperature of the exhaust gas from dropping as it travels from the exhaust port to the TWC. This
promotes the activation of the TWC.
Furthermore, this manifold has been shaped so that the air-fuel ratio sensor can be mounted in the most
effective position for detecting the exhaust gas.
