Step 2. Remove the air baffles.
Step 3. Press the center partition on the side to release it from the compute node.
Step 4. Lift the center partition from the compute node.
If you are instructed to return the center partition, follow all packaging instructions, and use any packaging
materials for shipping that are supplied to you.

Installing the center partition

Use this information to install the center partition.
Before you install the center partition, complete the following steps:
1. Read "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on page 973.
2. If the compute node is installed in a Lenovo Flex System chassis, remove it (see "Removing a compute
node from a chassis" on page 975 for instructions).
3. Carefully lay the compute node on a flat, static-protective surface, orienting the compute node with
the bezel pointing toward you.
To install the center partition, complete the following steps.
Step 1. Remove the cover (see "Removing the compute node cover" on page 986).
Step 2. Remove the air baffles.
Step 3. Place the center partition into position at the rear of the compute node.
Step 4. Rotate the center partition and secure it at the front of the compute node.
Step 5. Install the air baffles.
Attention: Install the air baffles with the arrow indicating air airflow direction pointing to the rear
of the compute node.
Attention: To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the compute node without the center
partition installed in the compute node and the air baffles installed over the DIMM connectors.
After you install the center partition, complete the following steps:
1. Install the cover onto the compute node (see "Installing the compute node cover" on page 988 for
instructions).
