17. Heat/Defog Tube Assembly

A. Heat/Defog Tube Assembly Removal
(Ref. Figure 407)
NOTE:
This task is typical for tubes in the
heat/defog bleed air system.
(1). Remove right crew seat, and passenger
seats (Ref. Section 25-00-00).
(2). Remove carpet from cabin floor, if
applicable.
(3). Remove cabin floor panels; AR129,
AR138, A160, AR165, 170, A217, A235
and AR250 as required (Ref. Section
52-20-00).
(4). Remove bleed air leak detection cable
(Ref. Section 26-10-10).
(5). Remove oxygen hose clamp(s) (1) from
inside shield (3) and outside shield (2)
and carefully remove shielding.
NOTE:
Avoid damage to insulation during re­
moval if possible. Reuse insulation on
installation.
(6). 900 CONFIG - Remove tape (13) and
insulation (12) from flexible coupling
assembly (14).
(7). 902 CONFIG - Remove tape (13) and
foam (12) from flared union and
coupling nuts (27).
(8). Remove screws (18), washers (19) and
nut (20) and remove tube support
clamps (17).
(9). 900 CONFIG - Remove flexible
coupling (14), retainer (15) and remove
tube assemblies (21).
(10). 900 CONFIG - Remove and discard
seals (16) from tube assemblies.
(11). 902 CONFIG - Loosen coupling nuts
(27), on tube assemblies (21).
(12). Remove tube assembly.

(1). 900 CONFIG - Install threadless
flexible coupling seals with the cup
facing tube end (Ref. Section
21-40-00).
(2). 900 CONFIG - Install tube assemblies
with retainer and flexible coupling.
(3). 902 CONFIG - Install coupling nuts
and torque coupling nuts.
(4). Install tube support clamp with screw,
washers and nut. Torque nut.
(5). Wrap tube connections coupling
assembly with insulation (12) and tape
(13) around tube support clamp and
coupling assembly. Overlap the existing
insulation on tube assemblies one inch.
Do not overlap at Sta. 180.25 and Sta.
204.50 tube connection. Butt insulation
and tape against existing insulation to
allow for installation of heat/defog
inside shielding and outside shielding.
(6). Install inside shield and outside shield
with clamps.
(7). Install bleed air leak detection system
cable (Ref. Section 26-10-10).
(8). Install cabin floor panels; AR129,
AR138, A160, A170, A217, A170, A235
and AR250 as required in removal (Ref.
Section 53-20-00).
(9). Install carpet from cabin floor, if
applicable.
(10). Install crew seat, and passenger seats
(Ref. Section 25-00-00).
