9 pin D-subminiature female socket connectors are provided for all electrical commu-
nication interfaces of the 7SJ63. The connector is illustrated in Figure 2-15. The pin
assignments are described in Sub-section 8.2.1.

Standard 9-pin D-subminiature plug connectors per MIL–C–24308 and DIN 41652
can be used.
The necessary communication cables are dependent on the interface:
• EIA 232: Five-wire, twisted and shielded, e.g. interface cable 7XV5100–4.
• EIA 485: Three-wire, twisted and shielded.
• Profibus: Two-wire or four-wire, twisted and shielded:
Wire Type A, DIN 19245, Part 2 and EN 50170 vol. 2, twisted and shielded,
Wire Resistance: 135 Ω to 165 Ω (f > 100 kHz)
Capacitance: < 30 nF/km or < 48 nF/mile
Circuit Resistance: < 110 Ω/km or 177 Ω/mile
Conductor Diameter: > 0.64 mm
Conductor Cross-sectional Area: > 0.34 mm

• Time synchronization: at least two-wire, shielded.
