2.1 Staff training and qualification
Those staff members concerned with the ser-
vicing, maintenance, inspection and installation
of the pump must be fully qualified in this type of
work. Staff responsibility, competence and super-
vision will be assumed by the owner.
In case of insufficient knowledge the staff must be
properly trained for such work. Upon request, the
owner shall receive training from EBARA or the
distributor of the pump.
2.2 Handling
Technical modifications or changes to the pump
structure are not permitted without previous dis-
cussions with EBARA.
Only original spare parts and other accessories
authorised by EBARA are suitable to comply with
safety standards.
Reconstructing the pump, modifying it in any way,
or using other spare parts can invalidate the gua-
rantee.
Good operation of pump is only guaranteed when
it is used properly as described in this manual.
Either operation conditions as limits shown in this
manual should never be exceeded in any cir-
cumstance.
Nameplates should always be displayed and
kept in a legible condition. This values will be
necessary for any future request.
2.3 Safety instructions for using on places
under risk of explosion
In this section you can find information about the
use on places under risk of explosion.
2.3.1 Pump - Motor sets
If the pump works jointly with another electric or
mechanical devices as a whole set, the category
of the equipment will be, according to Directive
94/9/EC, only such category that all components
accomplish.
Note:
This comment is specially important when a
pump complying with Directive 94/9/EC is cou-
pled to a drive system that not accomplish the
requirements of the same category.
It means, although the pump was marked with
Ex, if the motor is not indicated for this operation,
the equipment will not be used on places with
risk of explosion.
The personnel responsible of the installation
always have to check that all components of the
set accomplish with Directive 94/9/EC.
2.3.2 Execution of coupling guards
Coupling guards that will be used on places with
risk of explosion must comply the following requi-
rements:
• To be made in non-spark material.
• When coupling guard was made on materials
that can produce spark (like stainless steel), rota-
ting parts of coupling can not touch any other part
of coupling guard although foreseeable errors
occurs from users, like a person go up on it.
2.3.3 Checking technical items
When pumps were used on areas with risk of
explosion user periodically have to check the
following items:
• Leakage in shaft seal
• Bearings temperature
• That pump was primed along operating
• That pump do not work at shut off valve for a
long time.
The user must ensure that any anomaly in a
pump was completely corrected before it could
be put in operation.
2.3.4 Avoiding external impacts
In areas with risk of explosion, the user must
ensure that the pump and/or pumping set can not
receive external impacts (like heavy objets).
