7.2 Connecting the Model 5060 to your Computer

The Model 5060 is supplied with a serial interface cable necessary for connecting
the instrument to the computer. This cable (Cat. #2119.45) is equipped with a 9-pin
female connector on each end, thus providing the ability to interface with comput-
ers that have 9-pin connectors (see diagram in § 6.1).
To connect the megohmmeter to your computer:
• Connect the 9-pin connector from one end of the cable to the serial port
on the front panel of the Model 5060 megohmmeter.
• Connect the 9-pin connector from the other end of the cable to an avail-
able serial port on the back of your computer.
You are now ready to communicate using DataView

7.3 Using DataView

Once the serial connection between the computer and the Model 5060 has been
completed, as described above, start DataView
There are two ways to open and use the DataView
Using the Megohmmeter Icon
• Double-click the Megohmmeter Icon that was created during installation,
located on the desktop.

(see Figure 7-6).
Using the DataView Icon
• Double-click the DataView Icon that was created during installation,
located on the desktop.
DataView
(see Figure 7-4).
• Click the Configure Instrument button and the Connection window will
appear (see Figure 7-5).
The Quick Start Dialog Box contains the following options:
Configure Instrument: Creates a configuration for the megohmmeter.
Create View from Template: Creates a printable report from existing
data already stored on the computer.
