LAN Cabling

The system connects to an Ethernet network through a 10/100BaseT network concentrator
using unshielded twisted pair (UTP) cabling containing at least two pairs and meeting the
specifications listed in the following section. The 10/100BaseT network concentrator must meet
specifications defined in the ISO/IEC 8802.3 standard for repeaters and 10/100BaseT signaling.

Network Connection Lines

Connections are sourced from PSTN carrier or PBX platform. Either of the following is required:
Robbed bit, in-band CAS T1 trunks. A CSU is required.
ISDN out-of-band signaling trunks. A CSU is required.
Note:
Each BridgeTalk session connected to the system requires a minimum bandwidth
Note:
of 45K for LAN connectivity.

About Hunt Group Options

When providing a teleconferencing service, it is sometimes desirable to configure the incoming
channels as hunt groups. In a hunt group, a call coming in on a busy channel routes to a free
channel within the group. In this way, a caller enters the system on the first try without receiving
a busy signal. Several types of hunt groups are available, including the following:
Linear – In a linear hunt group, a call always enters the first free channel in the group (that
is, it goes to the beginning of the line). For example, if channel 1 is busy, the next call
comes in on channel 2 and the next call on channel 3. If the last line answered was 5 and
line 1 hangs up, the next call goes to line 1.
Rotary – In a rotary hunt group, a call enters the next free channel in the group. For
example, if the last line answered was 5 and line 1 hangs up, the next call goes to line 6
even though line 1 is available. In this way, the system uses each line in the group once
before using any line a second time.
Circular – In a circular hunt group, lines are hunted in clockwise or counter-clockwise
circles.
Consult your phone company for the hunt options available. When choosing phone lines for a
system, keep in mind that a remote operator audio channel must never be part of a hunt group.
Assign the remote channel a unique phone number.
