Troubleshooting

This chapter addresses known issues and challenges with the PrintServer and how
to work around them.
15.1 Changes to the output printer address are not
applied
Problem:
After assigning a new IP address or a new host name for the output printer (via
PrintGuide), the changes are visible in PrintGuide, but print jobs are not printed on
the intended printer and might be printed on the previously used printer.
This can be caused by the use of an old version of PrintGuide for configuring the
LinkCom 5 PrintServer.
Only use a PrintGuide version that is compatible with LinkCom 5 (version 065.490
or newer). Do not use a PrintGuide version 065.470 or older with LinkCom 5.
With LinkCom 5 a new IP parameter has been included to support output printer
addresses both in the old IPv4 format, as well as IPv6 and DNS formats.
The new PrintGuide accepts the IP input as a string, and interprets the value:
Older versions of PrintGuide only expect and accept an IPv4 address:
In order for the new PrintGuide to be backward compatible and be able to configure
both new and old MPI Tech PrintServers, the new PrintGuide will upload the setting
for the PrintServer and investigate if the old or the new IP representation is
present. If the old way of presenting printer IP addresses is present in the
configuration PrintGuide will expect the PrintServer to be of a type that does not
support the new IP address input format.
Solution:
There are two possible solutions two this issue
Solution 1
Use PrintGuide (version 065.490 or newer) to reset the PrintServer to factory
defaults (Menu "PrintServer", "Restore Factory Defaults". Accept a PrintServer
restart. After the power up, the PrintServer needs to be setup again.
