VPA Check - Valid printable area.
This defines what controls the valid printable area reported to the host. An
exception notification is reported back to the host if print data seems to fall outside
the set VPA check option. (Depending on host setup, exception reporting may be
suppressed)
VPA Check Options are:
Margins
Physical Page
Local IPDS Page
Disabled (no notification is sent to the host)
While testing e.g. a new print job it is advisable to use the VPA Check option, in
order to get any errors reported to the host, so that these errors can get corrected.
When printing a known print job (size, format etc.) it is advisable to disable VPA
Check in order to improve performance.
7.4.3
Physical Printer
These parameters are predefined when selecting the Printer Template (see 7.9
Printer templates). The Printer Template defines the target printer in the basic
version. Before any additional options installed in the printer can be accessed,
these must be enabled or defined via the below panels.
If checked 'Auto Configure' will attempt to retrieve information about Trays/Bins
paper format etc. directly from the printer. After selecting this option, save the
changes and restart the PrintServer restarted, to collect the information during the
PrintServer start up. Enabling 'Auto Configure' disables manual configuration.
