Exhaust Manifold Replacement - GMC G Service Manual

6. Air conditioning compressor rear bracket (if
equipped).
7. EGR and crankcase ventilation hoses.
8. CDR valve (G-models).
9. EGR/EPR solenoids and bracket.
10. Air cleaner.
11. Engine cover (G-models).
12. Battery cables.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD
REPLACEMENT
R/V MODELS (RIGHT SIDE)
H Remove or Disconnect
1. Battery cables.
• Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety
stands.
2. Exhaust pipe from the manifold. Refer to EXHAUST
(SEC. 6F).
• Lower the vehicle.
3. Glow plug wires.
4. Air cleaner duct bracket.
5. Glow plugs.
6. Exhaust manifold bolts and exhaust manifold.
M Clean
• Sealing surfaces on exhaust manifold and cylinder
head.
• Threads on manifold bolts.
H Install or Connect
1. Exhaust manifold and bolts.
RjXl Tighten
• Bolts to 35 N«m (26 ft. lbs.).
2. Glow plugs.
3. Air cleaner duct bracket.
4. Glow plug wires.
• Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety
stands.
5. Exhaust pipe to the manifold. Refer to EXHAUST
(SEC. 6F).
• Lower the vehicle.
6. Battery cables.
R/V MODELS (LEFT SIDE)
M Remove or Disconnect
1. Battery cables.
2. Dipstick tube.
3. Glow plugs.
4. Air conditioning compressor rear bracket (if
equipped).
5. Exhaust manifold bolts.
• Raise the vehicle. Support with suitable safety
stands.
6. Exhaust pipe at the manifold. Refer to EXHAUST
(SEC. 6F).
7. Exhaust manifold, from below the vehicle.
n ln Clean
• Sealing surfaces on the exhaust manifold and cylin­
der head.
• Threads on the exhaust manifold bolts.
B Install or Connect
1. Exhaust manifold, from below the vehicle. Loosely
install two or three bolts to hold the manifold in place.
