5. Clean inner and outer grooves of aluminum
piston. Install new, lubricated O-rings and
make sure they are not twisted. Install alumi-
num piston until the O-ring seals with the
housing, Now open the bleed screw slightly
and push down with Special Tool P 214 c
until the tool rests on the edge of the chain
tensioner. Then tighten bleed screw again
without delay,
Install spring, spring retainer and snap ring.

To prevent- damage on the chain tensioner
housing, it is not permitted. to pre-load the
a
timing chain with
screwdriver. Force from
the screwdriver could deform the chain ten-
sioner housing, which in turn would cause the
the a1umin;m
piston (7) to seize. Only use
Special Tool 9182 for pre-loading.
