C.3 Adding a Printer
The printers available to MicroVAX 3100 and VAXserver 3100 systems are
shown in Table C-5.

Enhanced LN03. Prints documents with both text and graph-
ics.

Nonimpact page printer that uses laser recording tech-
nology to produce high-quality output, text, graphics, and im-
ages.
Desktop dot-matrix printing terminal.

serial (LJ250) or par-
allel (LJ252).
Networked PostScript printer.
Networked PostScript printer.
The LPS20 and LPS40 printers are network devices and func-
tion as independent systems (nodes) in a network.
When you order a printer, you must also order a serial line cable to connect
the printer to your MicroVAX 3100 or VAXserver 3100 system.
To connect a printer:
1.
Use the documentation that shipped with the printer to:
Unpack and set up the printer.
Set the baud rate on your printer to 9600 baud.
NOTE:
If you cannot change the baud rate on the printer to 9600
baud, you can set the baud rate of the printer port (MMJ
3)
on the
system unit to match the printer baud rate. The baud rate of the
printer port is software programmable.
2. Set the ON/OFF power switches on the printer and the system unit are
set to the OFF (0) position.
3. Attach the larger end of the printer cable to the back of the printer.
