Installing the hard drive backplane

Prerequisites
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You should only
perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your product documentation, or as
directed by the online or telephone service and support team. Damage due to servicing that is
not authorized by Dell is not covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions
that came with the product.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to the control panel flex cable, do not to bend the control panel
flex cable after it is inserted into the connector.

2. Slide the hard drive backplane into the chassis until the release tabs snap into place.
3. Connect the SAS/SATA data, signal, and power cable(s) to the backplane.

1. Disconnect the cables from the control panel board.
CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when removing the control panel as it can damage the
connectors.
2. Hold the top edge of the LCD control panel at the corners and pull upward until the LCD control
panel tabs are released.
3. Pull the control panel away from the chassis.
