2-10 SATA/SAS Connections

SATA 3.0 and S-SATA 3.0 Connections

Ten SATA 3.0 connections are located on the motherboard. Six SATA 3.0 ports
(I-SATA 0-5) are supported by the Intel PCH C612. A vertical S-SATA connector,
offers four S-SATA 3.0 connections (S-SATA 0-3). I-SATA4/5, colored in yellow,
are used with Supermicro SuperDOM (Disk-on-Module) connectors with power-
pins built in. Supermicro SuperDOM connectors are backward-compatible with
regular SATA HDDs and SATA DOMs. All SATA ports provide serial-link signal
connections, which are faster than the connections of Parallel ATA. See the table
on the right for pin definitions.
Note 1
power pins built in and do not require separate external power cables.
These connectors are backward-compatible with non-Supermicro SATA-
DOMs that require an external power supply.
Note 2: For more information on the SATA HostRAID configuration, please
refer to the Intel SATA HostRAID user's guide posted on our website @
