7. Install all the timing gears and measure the
backlash using a dial indicator (Figure 5-202).
• Standard gear backlash: 0.05 to 0.15 mm
(0.002 to 0.006 in.)
• Maximum gear backlash: 0.30 mm (0.012 in.)
If the measured gear backlash exceeds the
maximum specification, replace all the gears as
a set.
