6. Adjust the position of the shift cable joint
until its hole is aligned with the set pin.

CAUTION:
The shift cable joint must be screwed in a
minimum of 8.0 mm (0.31 in) c.
7. Connect the cable joint, install the clip,
and then tighten the locknut.
8. Check the gear shift for smooth operation
and, if necessary, repeat steps 3–7.

Checking the ignition timing

1. Start the engine and warm it up for 5 min-
utes.
2. Attach the special service tool to spark
plug wire #1 1, and then check the
engine idle speed.

3. Attach the special service tool to spark
plug wire #1.

4. Check that the "TDC" mark a on the fly-
wheel magnet is aligned with the mark b
on the pointer.
