For all practical purposes, all vehicles m ake use o f the
sam e air conditioning 4 and 6-cylinder com pressors. A ctual
differences
between
com pressors
m ounting brackets, pulleys, connector assemblies and
com pressor capacitires, none o f which w ill affect the
follow ing Overhaul Procedures.
W hen servicing the com pressor, it is essential that steps
be taken to prevent dirt or foreign material from getting on
or into the com pressor parts and system during disassembly

A lthough certain service operations can be performed
without com pletely rem oving the com pressor from the
vehicle, the operations described herein are based on bench
over-haul with the com pressor rem oved from the vehicle.
